3D Print

For this project we had to collaborate our hollow form designs with a partner and 3D print it.These are the sketches I made when collaborating me and Sophia's designs:


And This is the Model we decided to create:


We took fish design from my hollow form project and combined it with Sophia's double vase design. Finally this is the creation of our model:











Overall I'm Pretty satisfied with the result. It was a risky design to self support and I'm honestly just happy that it was able to print period. One side of the print had a lot of issue, but the otherwise was almost perfect. Hopefully when we get to print it again it will end up better.

For this project I made a cup of coffee with a dollar bill inside of it, because I spent most of my summer working in a coffee shop. I placed the bill inside of the mug to symbolize me drowning in my tears in order to make money :) (I did enjoy my summer, but customer service can be interesting to say the least) I also decided to make the mug transparent so that the contents within it can be more defined.

Coaster Refined

  This the crushed can coaster I decided to pursue: I spent a lot of time on the top off the can, making sure every detail was extruded by the right amount. The planning towards this can also took up a lot of time. I didn't want to make a mistake in rhino and have to redo everything, so I decide to sketch out my design in more detail and measure out everything before I started. For the base of the can I used red plastic, and for the top I used grey paint. I decided I would paint the details on the base of the can, as laster cutting it might be more difficult.

Coaster finale

This is the coaster I made:   This is the design that I was aiming for: here is the laser-cutter setup: And this is the result: Since I wanted to make the crushed can look realistic, I decided to spray paint it. before doing so, I decided to test out the colours on a spare piece of acrylic. I applied adhesive spray the acrylic first, followed by a couple layers of spray paint, then a polishing spray to create a better finish. Once I was satisfied, I spray painted my coaster. This is the final result: I am relatively satisfied with the results produced by the laser cutter. However, I was hoping for more depth when it came to engraving details. This would have made the cracks and curves of the can more noticeable. I also found that these crevices disappeared even more after a couple layers of spray paint.
