Coaster Refined

Image
This the crushed can coaster I decided to pursue: I spent a lot of time on the top off the can, making sure every detail was extruded by the right amount. The planning towards this can also took up a lot of time. I didn't want to make a mistake in rhino and have to redo everything, so I decide to sketch out my design in more detail and measure out everything before I started. For the base of the can I used red plastic, and for the top I used grey paint. I decided I would paint the details on the base of the can, as laster cutting it might be more difficult.

These are the 12 coasters I designed: I'm excited about the crushed can design (6), as well as the tea bag (8). I think it would be cool to see the crushed can come to life using a laser cutter and what boundaries I can push to make it as realistic as possible. I also think the tea bag has a lot of potential design-wise, especially with the grooves and curves. It would also be interesting to see how it turns out based on what materials we will be able to use.  Another design that would be fun to create is the drum set (2). That design would be more difficult to create, but the end result would be interesting to see.
